KERSHAW COUNTY (WACH) - A man is charged with criminal sexual conduct for the second time in Kershaw County.
Ronald Linwood Christmas Jr., was arrested Friday by Kershaw County investigators and is accused of sexually molesting a young girl between 2005 and 2007, according to the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office. At the time of the alleged inappropriate behavior, the girl was between 7 and 8 years old.
The victim told investigators she was hesitant to tell anyone until now. Authorities say her parents contacted an investigator this month and a forensic interview was arranged. An arrest warrant was obtained, and Christmas turned himself in on Friday.
â??Although Christmas is probably not a flight risk, I would say that he is a danger at least to the children in our community. He needs to be denied bond. Since research has shown that child molesters are not rehabilitated there is a very strong likelihood that Christmas will offend again. He should be denied that opportunity by being forced to remain behind bars until trial,â?? said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews.
Christmas was first charged with criminal sexual conduct with a minor in 2011, but was released after posting a bond. He is currently awaiting a bond hearing on his most recent charge at the Kershaw County Detention Center.
