Woman arrested for identity fraud in Richland County

COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott has announced the arrest of Shaheen Snider, charged with two counts of identity fraud, one count of forgery and one count of financial transaction card theft.

Lott said that Snider stole the victim’s credit card on May 1, 2016 while working as a cashier at the Citgo Petro Mart at 7621 Garners Ferry Road.

The victim made a gas purchase inside the business and Snider returned a different credit card to the victim. The victim later discovered he had the wrong card. Snider attempted to make approximately $1,200 in purchases at the Walmart at 7520 Garners Ferry Road.

Snider then used the victim’s identification in May of 2017 and purchased a hotel room at the Quality Inn and Suites at 7251 Garners Ferry Road. Investigators were able to identify Snider by surveillance video.

Snider faces additional fraud charges with Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Columbia Police Department, and Lexington County Sheriff’s Department. Snider has been transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
