Tue, 05 Nov 2013 23:24:41 GMT — RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH)- A 29-year old man is in jail after being charged with threatening a public official in the roadway along Interstate 77 Tuesday afternoon. According to a release from the Richland County Sheriff's Department, Sheriff Lott saw Anthony Nelson walking at Fort Jackson Boulevard and I-77. Lott, who was wearing his uniform, stopped Nelson to see what he was doing in the middle of the road. Lott said Nelson became disorderly, cursed at him and also tried to punch Lott. Lott then arrested Nelson. Nelson was taken to jail. He also is wanted in Lexington County. Sheriff Lott said Nelson has a lengthy arrest record and history of mental illness.
