NEWBERRY (WACH) -- A man died Thursday morning after a train crash in Newberry County.

Newberry County Deputies say at around 6 a.m. CSX officials called 911 about a trespasser on the tracks between SC 34 bypass and McCravy Street.

Authorities found a man on the tracks that had been severely injured, EMS later declared he died at the scene. The Newberry County coroner identified the victim as 42-year old Malcolm Felix Somellian-Wilson of Newberry.

Foster said walking on railroad tracks is illegal and hopes this incident serves as a message to the community.

"It should serve as a tragic reminder that the transportation companies they post railroad property no tresspassing sign its not as much as they don't want people on their property," says Foster "as much as they don't want people on their property to keep from getting hit by a train."
