Man faces 2 DUI charges after fatal Clarendon Co. accident
CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) —
A man has been arrested after killing one and injuring another in a Saturday night car accident.
Anthony Jones, 62, of Manning is charged with felony DUI resulting in a death and felony DUI causing great bodily injury.
According to Lance Corporal Matt Southern with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 6:05 p.m. on Silver Road near Raccoon Road. The crash took place at a traffic circle.
LCpl. Southern said Jones and a passenger headed north on Raccoon Road in a 2001 Ford sedan, while a 2013 Ford SUV drove east on Silver Road. Jones ran off the right side of the roadway and overcorrected, hitting a concrete barrier and striking the SUV.
EMS transported Jones and his passenger, as well as the driver of the SUV, to Clarendon Memorial. The driver of the SUV was then airlifted to MUSC in Charleston and later died. The Clarendon County Coroner's Officer will identify the victim after next of kin is notified.
Jones was arrested upon his release from the hospital. He is currently held at the Clarendon County Detention Center
