Man kills ex-wife's boyfriend then kills himself

WEST COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Two men are dead in what authorities say is a murder-suicide.

The West Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff's Department are investigating a shooting that occurred in the city at 7:56 a.m. Sunday.

According to West Columbia Police Chief Dennis Tyndall, 28-year-old Gerald Copeland forced entry into the home of his ex-wife's boyfriend.

Once inside, the suspect shot 39-year-old Clyde Yarborough multiple times. When officers arrived at the residence, the victim was dead and the suspect had fled the scene.

During a manhunt for the suspect, Copeland was located in a vehicle on Bluff Road suffering from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
