Midlands WWII vet celebrates 90th birthday

James Boozer turned 90-years-old on Wednesday.

LEXINGTON (WACH) -- A Midlands WWII veteran was proud to be turning 90 on Wednesday.

James Boozer is a retired Army captain. He joined the military in 1941.

During his career, Boozer earned several medals, including a Purple Heart, a Silver Star and Bronze Star.

I didn't think I was going to make it, says Boozer. I never dreamed I reach this age.

Boozer is a part of a small group of living WWII vets.

On Wednesday, he was surrounded by family and friends on his special day. Boozer says his secret to living 90 years is maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
