Missing woman, car found in Lake Wateree

Authorities are searching Lake Wateree and the surrounding area in connection with a missing woman.

FAIRFIELD COUNTY (WACH) -- Authorities have confirmed a body found inside a car in Lake Wateree late Friday night was Inge Conrad, 79.

An autopsy is planned for Saturday.

Conrad was last seen Thursday afternoon in Lugoff.

Chief Deputy Keith Lewis with the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department says Conrad's son filed a missing persons report Thursday. The son, who Conrad lives with, says he noticed objects out of place, like an overturned table and displaced trees, that lead him to the lake.

Her vehicle was found approximately 40-yards away from the original search site by a dive team using sonar off of Rolling Hills Road in Ridgeway.

According to Lewis, the bank of the lake drops off 15 feet into the water, Conrad was driving a Subaru Baha, which could have floated for a while before sinking if it did enter the lake.

Deputies from the Fairfield County Sheriff's Department, State Law Enforcement Division agents and divers from several agencies searched the lake and area near Conrad's home in Ridgeway all day Friday.
