      Mom arrested after allowing teen to set himself on fire for internet challenge

      <font size="2">Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a mother after they say she knowingly allowed her son to set himself on fire as part of a fire challenge.</font>

      CHARLOTTE (WACH/FOX46)- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have charged a mother after they say she knowingly allowed her son to set himself on fire as part of a fire challenge.

      Police say Janie Lachelle Talley knew her son poured fingernail polish remover on his body and lit himself on fire.

      Detectives investigating the incident said that Talley even took part in recording a video that was posted to Facebook in July.

      Police said the 16-year-old victim sustained minor burns to his chest and neck area. After the incident the teen posted a video to Facebook cautioning others against taking this challenge, that video has been removed from Facebook.

      Talley has been charged with Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.
