COLUMBIA(WACH) â??The body of a young woman found in Elgin last night is identified as 18-year-old Briana Nicole Rabon.
The Kershaw County Sheriff's Office was notified that Briana's body was found in Haigâ??s Creek Subdivision near Elgin, SC. Several teenagers had come across her body on a dirt road adjacent to some power lines next to a wooded area.
KCSD investigators contacted the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) and requested assistance from their Crime Scene Division. A driver's license found indicated that the victim was Briana.
Rabon's mother contacted the KSCO to file a missing persons report on her daughter. The mother contacted the sheriff's office with a description of Briana's car, which was located at the Waffle House on US 601 and I-20.
It was taken to the Kershaw County Sheriffâ??s Office where SLED forensic agents later processed it for evidence. While SLED was processing the scene, 6 KCSO investigators began running down leads.

I am not too proud to ask for outside help in solving this and we will use whatever resources that are made available to us,â?? said Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews. â??As in many cases of this nature, public help is always needed. If anyone has any information about this crime, as insignificant as it may seem, or saw the victim on the afternoon of Tuesday February 25th, please contact the Kershaw County Sheriffâ??s Office at 425-1512 and ask for Lt.
