Murdered man's family makes tearful plea for answers

Gerald McDaniels' family made a tearful plea to the public Monday for information leading to an arrest.

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A Columbia family is looking for answers after a murder last month.

Gerald McDaniels' family made a tearful plea to the public Monday for information leading to an arrest.

McDaniels was gunned down at Two Notch Road storage shed on June 19.

McDaniels' daughter, April Hiller, says the murderer took something away she can never get back.

"I couldn't call my dad on Father's Day because he killed him before Father's Day," Hiller said sobbing. "I couldn't call him on his birthday because he killed him. He took that privilege from me."

Police want to talk with the man seen in surveillance video in front of the storage facility on the night McDaniels was killed last month.

Columbia Police Spokesman Brick Lewis says someone may know who he is, even though he has a shirt over his head.

If you have any information in this case that might help police, call CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.

All calls remain anonymous and you could ear a cash reward.
