Newberry Deputy struck by car while answering call

NEWBERRY, SC (WACH) A Newberry deputy was hit by a car while out on a call.
According to Newberry Sheriff Lee Foster, the deputy, whose name has not been made public, was standing near the scene of an accident at about 11:40 p.m. Monday, when a green Mustang driven by Tonya Crapps of Prosperity drove near the scene of the wreck.
The deputy tried to avoid the oncoming car by diving out of the way and was struck on the leg. Foster said the deputy was taken to the hospital, treated and released.
Crapps was charged with Reckless Driving by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
