COLUMBIA (WACH) -- South Carolina has it's newest troopers hitting the roadways.
Thirty-three men and women graduated from the 92nd basic training class Friday from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.
Family and friends were on hand to see the troopers get commissioned. along with Governor Nikki Haley.
The training started in January and went for 21 weeks culminating in Friday's graduation ceremonies.
Colonel Michael Oliver said, "Whether it's changing a flat tire for an elderly couple on a hot summer day, taking the time to speak to a small child, or spending time with a greiving family that just lost a loved one, you will make a difference."
Governor Haley congratulated the newest set of troopers.
"You were challenged mentally. you were challenged physically, you were challenged emotionally, and you made it through," Haley said.
The Basic 92 class will bring the total number of troopers in South Carolina to 762
The South Carolina Highway Patrol already has over 40 candidates waiting to start their training in July.
