Nor'easter moving towards eastern New England
COLUMBIA, SC (AP) -- Our Freeze Warning in the Midlands continues until 9AM as a nor'easter brings blizzard conditions to eastern New England today. As 1 to 2 feet of snow piles up in some areas, strong onshore winds will create coastal flooding, beach erosion and power outages.
Blowing and drifting snow is also in store inland, where the snow will be more dry and powdery in nature. As the flow of cold air west of the storm amplifies, flurries and heavier snow showers are forecast to riddle the Great Lakes and central Appalachians.
Chilly air will be funneled into the Southeast states, where freezes are likely at night.
Most areas from the Plains to the Four Corners states can expect dry weather and sunshine. Meanwhile, a major storm will bring rain and heavy mountain snow from Central California to Washington.
