Officers take 73 marijuana plants from home near West Columbia

The plants were being grown inside a home that featured separate electrical lighting, ventilation and climate control systems, according to Sheriff James Metts.

LEXINGTON COUNTY (WACH) - Lexington County officers seized 73 marijuana plants from a home near West Columbia Wednesday afternoon.

The plants were being grown inside a home that featured separate electrical lighting, ventilation and climate control systems, according to Sheriff James Metts. Dried marijuana, cash, and a handgun were also taken from the home. The combined street value of items taken from the home is approximately $75,000.

Metts says an undercover investigation began almost two months ago after officers received information that marijuana plants were being grown inside 32-year-old Theodore James Prosalenti's home.

Deputies executed a search warrant around 4 p.m. Wednesday. Prosalenti was arrested and taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.

Prosalenti is charged with manufacturing marijuana and possessing marijuana with the intent to distribute it.

The Lexington County Multi-Agency Narcotics Enforcement Team worked in cooperation with the Springdale Police Department on the bust.
