One dead after vehicle hits disabled Peterbilt

CLARENDON COUNTY, S.C. (WACH) -- A Friday evening accident involving a car hitting a disabled Peterbilt tractor trailer resulted in one death.

The incident occurred just before 6 p.m. on U.S. 15 in Clarendon County . According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 2011 Chrysler 300 was heading southbound when the car came upon the disabled truck. The driver went off the right side of the road yet still struck the Peterbilt.

The backseat passenger was transferred to a local hospital and later succumbed to injuries. The driver and front passenger were treated for minor injuries. Both the driver and the victim were wearing seat belts.
