COLUMBIA (WACH)â?? Two parents were arrested after admitting that they did not have money to buy milk or food for their child.
According to the Richland County Sheriff's Department, Ashley Michelle Cheatham, 22, and Samuel Bartholomew Green, 20, brought their child to the hospital on July 12 after he started to have seizures. The officer decided to turn custody of the child over to DSS.
According to the report, the 2 ½ month old infant was fed nothing but water because they did not have money to buy baby milk or food for their child. The parents admitted that they knew it was dangerous and potentially deadly for their child to not receive food.
The parents were placed in custody and charged with Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child and Inflicting or Allowing the Infliction of Great Bodily Injury upon a Child.
The bond for both was set at $75,000.
The parents were transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
