COLUMBIA (WACH) - A pedestrian walking in downtown Columbia was hit by a car Wednesday after a two vehicle collision.
A spokesperson with the Columbia Police Department says the incident happened around 12 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Hampton and Assembly Streets.
Police say the pedestrian was standing on the sidewalk when a person driving east on Hampton Street allegedly ran a red light and hit a white car traveling north on Assembly Street. The white car was pushed into the pedestrian.
Gary Jones, 54, is cited for disregarding a traffic control device.
According to authorities, the pedestrian appears to have a leg injury and was taken to a local hospital.
