Pedestrian hit and killed by driver in Fairfield County

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, SC (WACH) – One person is dead after being struck by a vehicle in Fairfield County Monday night.

According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on Pump House Road.

The driver was travelling eastbound in a 2006 Ford Crown Victoria when they hit the pedestrian on Pump House Road, who was walking eastbound in the roadway. The pedestrian died at the scene.

The driver wasn’t wearing a seat belt, but wasn’t injured either.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate.
