Pineview Elementary student sells flowers for Mother's Day

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WACH) -- Some Pineview Elementary fifth graders take time out of the classroom to smell and sell roses for Mother's Day.

The flower sale is a way for them to learn about owning and operating a business.

The students take orders, promote sales and make each of the flower arrangements sold.

Twenty-five percent of the proceeds will go to Toby's Place and a local animal shelter.

"Our goal is $4,000 and we've already reached over that with pre-sales. We accidentally out sold all the roses they bought for us to even sell for Friday with doing pre-sales so they had to go out and buy more flowers this morning," says fifth grader Ryan Springs.

This flower sale was made possible with the help of the Youth Corps.
