COLUMBIA (WACH) - In a possible drive-by shooting, police pull a Camden man out of a car on fire. Shortly after 5:30AM on Saturday, Kershaw County deputies responded to a car crash with the vehicle on fire. Several call were made to dispatch about the crash and some callers mentioned hearing gunshots just before the Ford Taurus went into the ditch near Black River Rd. and Pathfinder Trailer in Camden.
Police discovered 25 year old Antwan Mario Dixon behind the wheel, and was able to pull him out, but unable to extinguish the flames. Dixon was airlifted to Palmetto Health Richland where it was discovered that he had been shot in the head. He was pronounced dead.
Investigators immediately began interviewing witnesses and individuals who had been with Dixon before the shooting, and also discovered multiple bullet holes in the car along with several spent shell casings on the road.
