Police: Suspects in separate murder case already behind bars

Columbia,SC (WACH)-Police says two men who are already in jail in connection with a murder investigation are accused of killing another individual.

Lawrence Stevens, 42, and Peter Edward Chalers, 44, are charged with Murder in the death of Rachel Marie Goodnight.Her decomposed body was found on April 12, 2012 in a wooded area at the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Road.

The Richland County Coronerâ??s Office determined that Goodnight died from blunt force trauma to the head.

Goodnightâ??s family reported her as missing on March 28, 2012.

Authorities confirmed that Stevens and Goodnight were in a relationship and lived in another state before moving to Columbia, South Carolina. They met up with Chalers when they were in town.

Chalers and Stevens have already been charged with Murder in the death of Richard Kinsey Junior.

His body was found in the pond at South East Park on April 1, 2012.

Stephens and Chalers are still housed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Both investigations are on-going.
