Prayer vigil to take place at State House Tuesday for DACA support
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) – A prayer vigil will take place Tuesday at the State House to show support for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA.
The Young Immigrant Dreamers Interfaith Prayer Vigil will take place at 6 p.m. on the Gervais Street side of the State House.
The group is coming together to “pray for moral strength and guidance of our political leaders to come together and pass the bi-partisan DREAM act,” according to the group’s Facebook page.
Speakers will include faith leaders from local Catholic, AME, United Methodist, Jewish and Unitarian Universalist congregations. It will also include DACA recipients.
Tuesday is the deadline that was set by a group of Attorney Generals to sue the federal government over the program.
