Prosperity Police arrest five for shoplifting, criminal conspiracy

The Prosperity Police Department arrested five individuals on Friday for various charges related to a shoplifting incident.

According to Chief David Beddingfield, the arrest took place at the Bi-Lo on C.R. Koon Highway in Prosperity's municipal limits.

Timothy Kinlaw, 33, and Joshua Martez Lucas, 26, entered the store with a young juvenile. The two took products that totaled $281 as the juvenile pushed the shopping cart. Lucas and Kinlaw left the minor, telling him to head outside with the cart.

In the parking lot, Pearl Elizabeth Potter, Adama Tiffany Pastures, and Monifah Denise Lucas were in a vehicle. The three adults loaded the car up with the products in the cart.

Authorities located all the adults near the store. Upon booking, officers discovered a cylinder containing crack cocaine in Joshua Lucas's anal cavity.

Kinlaw's charges include:

  • Shoplifting;
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor; and
  • Criminal conspiracy.

Lucas faces multiple charges, including;

  • Shoplifting;
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor;
  • Possession of crack cocaine; and
  • Criminal conspiracy.

Potter, Pastures, and Monifah Lucas face shoplifting and criminal conspiracy charges.

According to Chief Beddingfield, Lucas, Kinlaw, and Pastures have extensive criminal records.

All five adults are booked at the Newberry County Detention Center.
