COLUMBIA (WACH) - It's preservationists versus capital city leaders when it comes to the redevelopment of the old mental health hospital on Bull Street.
A public hearing was held Monday afternoon, where more than 30 citizens voiced their concerns.
Suggesting that a possible baseball stadium could cause traffic congestion, Valerie Marcil says she doesn't think a stadium would be a good fit.
"If you want people to live on this property," said Marcil," I don't think a stadium is what you want."
Expressing concerns about the stadium wasn't the only concern from citizens. Concerned resident, Jim Padgett, asked the Mayor and city council members to schedule another hearing for citizens to gain a better understanding of the project.
However, the second and final vote of the redevelopment project will take place on July 9th.
