Public Service Commission approves 2.8% SCE&G rate hike
COLUMBIA, SC (WACH) - The South Carolina Public Service Commission approved a 2.8% rate hike for SCE&G customers at a meeting Wednesday.
The rate hike was initiated for production of a nuclear power plant at the VC Summer site.
The eighth SCE&G rate hike will go into effect on October 30th of this year.
The 2.8% hike means customers will pay about $4 more per bill.
Several agencies including the AARP, Small Business Chamber of Commerce and the Savannah River Site Watch have been opposed to the rate hike from the beginning.
