RCSD arrest man after police chase leads to drug bust
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WACH)-- The Richland County Sheriff's Department has arrested one man after a vehicle chase occurred Sunday morning.
Lt. Curtis Wilson says, deputies received a 911 hangup call around 7 a.m. When they responded to the scene they found a female running down Sharpe Road.
Deputies questioned the woman and she told them about a man who may have been trying to harm her.
Deputies later located the vehicle described by the woman and attempted to stop the car near Sharpe and Jodo Roads. A police chase occurred and ended on Malcolm drive where deputies and K-9 units were able to arrest the man.
According to Lt. Wilson, Tytron Derrick has been charged with kidnapping, possession with intent to distribute ecstasy, simple possession of marijuana, driving under suspension second offense, failure to stop for blue lights, and unlawful carry of a firearm by a felon. Additional charges could be forthcoming as well.
