COLUMBIA (WACH) - The Richland County Sheriff's Department will begin giving "reality checks" to kids on Monday.
Sheriff Leon Lott says the department is reintroducing the Crossroads Tour as an option for parents. The tour was originally introduced by Lott in 2008 as a way to show kids the crossroads in their lives. More than 300 children successfully completed the program.
Through the program, Lott says kids will meet with deputies and deputy coroners that will talk with them about their future and how their lives will turn out if they do not get on the right track.
The program includes a tour of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and a "Real Talk" session with Sgt. Gerald Walls.
Interested parents must sign up for the program at the sheriff's office located at 5623 Two Notch Road.
Tours will begin on Monday April 15 at 1701 Main Street at 6 p.m. and end around 8 p.m. For more information please contact Sergeant Walls at (803) 576-1483.
