COLUMBIA (WACH)â??The Richland County Sheriffâ??s Department is investigating 2 separate shootings on Wednesday afternoon, leaving 2 people recovering from wounds.
According to RCSD Spokesman Curtis Wilson, just after 5:00 p.m., deputies responded to Joe Frazier Court for a person who was shot in the lower body while â??visiting friends.â??
Wilson reported that shell casing were recovered, along with marijuana at the scene. The male victim was transported to the hospital, and investigators are still working the case, however they were able to determine that the had victim accidently shot himself
Wilson also reported that just after 7:00 p.m., deputies were called to the 7200 block of Patricia Drive for a report of another shooting victim. According to the Sheriffâ??s Department, the victim reported that he was shot at 1704 Leesburg Road, after a â??verbal altercation that turned physical.â??
The victim drove himself to Patricia Drive, where he met with the police, and was transported to the hospital. The information on the suspect has not been released by the sheriffâ??s department.
Both men were shot in the lower body, and have yet to be identified.
