Red Flag Fire Alert remains in effect by State Forestry Commission

Weather conditions are favorable for the spread of wildfires in SC.

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A Red Flag Fire Weather Alert remains in effect for the entire state of South Carolina.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission says weather conditions still allow for an elevated fire danger level.

Wind gusts up to 30 mph, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures will contribute this risk.

Debris burning is not recommended at this time.

The commission encourages South Carolinians to postpone outdoor burning to prevent fires from spreading out of control.

Over 60 wildfires were reported by the forestry commission on Saturday.

The alert remains in effect until lifted by the South Carolina Forestry Commission.
