Annie Chambers Caddell of Summerville says she will be in nearby James Island attending the wedding of a black artist.

Caddell has flown the flag, along with the American flag, from her porch for several months. She says she has ancestors who fought for the South in the Civil War.

Neighbors object to the flag, saying it is a reminder of racism and slavery.

Local civic association president Dexter Mack says residents plan a peaceful march Saturday in hopes some agreement can be reached to take the flag down.
