Richland County Sheriffs invite community to free family event

RCSD invites the community to "All Comers Track Meet and Family Night,"

COLUMBIA (WACH) â?? The Richland County Sheriffâ??s Department and the Lower Richland Community Leaders are hosting an event in an effort to enhance the athletic talents and sportsmanship of adolescents in the Southeast Richland County.

â??All Comers Track Meet and Family Nightâ?? will be held on Friday, Sept. 17. Sheriff Leon Lott states that there will be track and field activities for all ages. Participants as young as two years of age can participate and there is no maximum age limit.

Sheriff Lott encourages all citizens to participate in this event at Lower Richland High School (2615 Lower Richland Boulevard, Hopkins) itâ??s open to the public, and is free.

Lott goes on to say that the â??All Comers Track Meetâ?? is an event created to bring the Sheriffâ??s Department and citizens together and to build unity between the citizens and the department. Lott says this is an opportunity for our youth to become aware and educated about crime prevention and to learn how important being involved in your community really is.

Lott adds that there will be free food, T-shirts, and prizes for everyone. Pre-registration starts at 5:00PM with games beginning at 6PM. Anyone wishing to be involved or support this event should contact Richland County Sheriffâ??s Deputy, Captain Robert Ragland at (803) 576-1471.
