COLUMBIA (WACH) --The Richland One School District welcomed in six new members to the it's Hall of Fame.

The district made the announcement Wednesday morning. The members include Pastor Sam Goodwin, Jean Hopkins, State Senator Phil Leventis, Martha Monteith, Dr. Jasper Salmond, and Dr. Albert Thompson Sr.

The Hall of Fame recognizes Richland One alumni who made significant contributions to the district, communities, and society. 41 people have now been inducted.

There will also be a gala to honor the newest inductees. The ninth annual Richland One Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Gala will be January 26, 2013 at 6 p.m. The event will be at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. Tickets will go on sale in November.

Richland One Superintendent Dr. Percy Mack said it is a great way to honor people who gave back to the community.

"This class has done some wonderful things not only in Richland School District One, but across the United States and the world. It was exciting to hear about these stories. Stories that may not have been told had these individuals not been recommended," said Mack.
