Runners brave the weather for Palmetto Half Marathon

More than 1,500 runners crossing the start line at the Palmetto Half Marathon.

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- Heavy rain didn't stop the more than 1,500 runners who participated in the Palmetto Half Marathon Saturday morning. Fortunately, the weather held off for most of the race, but many runners were drenched as they crossed the finish line.

Organizers say there's something for everyone. The event features a youth half marathon, half marathon, road race, 5K, and kids fun run.

Proceeds from the event will go to Friends of Juvenile Justice and D.I.V.A., Inc. Both organizations work with at-risk youth and children.

WACH FOX News is proud to be a media sponsor of the Palmetto Half Marathon. Anchors Katie Williams and Fraendy Clervaud emceed the big run. Reporter Adam Pinsker ran the half marathon.
