South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford says he met with his Argentine lover over the weekend in Florida.
Sanford told reporters Wednesday he met with Maria Belen Chapur for several days to see if they could restart their relationship.
Sanford disappeared for five days last summer, returning to South Carolina to admit a yearlong affair with Chapur. He would not say if he has seen Chapur since that trip and told reporters it's time to move away from discussions about his personal life.
He has been censured by state lawmakers, and he and wife Jenny divorced earlier this year.
Sanford would not say where he and Chapur stayed.
The term-limited Republican leaves office in January.
