Saturday tornadoes confirmed in Horry County

SOCASTEE, SC (WACH) -- Two tornadoes touched down along the Grandstrand in Horry County on Saturday.

A National Weather Service storm survey crew rates both twisters EF-0 with winds estimated at 60 mph.

A tornado touched down briefly in the Cameron Village Subdivision near Highway 707 near Socastee.

Six homes were reported to have minor damage to shingles and vinyl siding. There were also a few broken windows due to flying debris.

Another tornado, associated with a separate circulation, touched down near Socastee near the intersection of Highway 31 and Highway 544. It produced minor damage to approximately four homes.

No injuries were reported.

According to the S.C. Climate Office, approximately 81% of South Carolinas tornadoes are rated EF-0 to EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with winds less that 110 mph.
