MCENTIRE JOINT NATIONAL GUARD BASE, S.C. (AP) -- Fighter jets from McEntire Joint National Guard Base are scheduled to fly an air defense exercise in the vicinity of Florence.
South Carolina Air National Guard spokesman Maj. Jim Roth says Thursday evening's exercise will include F-16 fighter jets and a single-engine aircraft.
Roth says the exercise should not alarm residents. He emphasizes that it is a routine practice.
Roth says the exercises are carefully planned and closely controlled. They are done to ensure that the South Carolina Air National Guard remains in top form to so that it is able to respond to any airborne threats over the United States.
