COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Church volunteers are making sure that South Carolina's prison inmates get gifts for Christmas.
Corrections Director Jon Ozmint says holiday care packages are being distributed Tuesday to South Carolina's more than 23,000 adult prison inmates.
Ozmint says each inmate will get a toothpaste, toothbrush, soap and mints. They'll also get a pen, notepad, stamped envelopes and a brochure titled, "Book of Hope."
For more than 30 years, volunteers from the South Carolina Baptist Convention have put together the care packages with items donated from member churches.
