COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- South Carolina's law enforcement community is celebrating the best of the best at an annual gathering.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers' Association is holding its awards gala Friday in Columbia.
Organizers say the event honors 16 nominees from across the state for citizen of the year and officer of the year. Among the expected attendees are U.S. Marshall Kelvin Washington, Public Safety Director Mark Keel and South Carolina Highway Patrol Col. Kenny Lancaster Jr.
Gov. Nikki Haley this week nominated Keel to lead the State Law Enforcement Division.
