SC Corrections officer arrested and charged with domestic violence

COLUMBIA (WACH) -- A South Carolina Department of Corrections officer has been arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence.
Early Sunday morning, 38-year-old James David Morgan was arrested at his Lexington home by the Lexington County Sheriff's Department.
Morgan is a corrections officer at the Broad River Correctional Institution.
According to an incident report, Morgan questioned his wife as to why she was out so late and then proceeded to grab her by her throat and threw her down onto a couch. The report says he then restrained her.
Two children were said to have witnessed the violence.
According to SC Department of Corrections spokesperson Clark Newsom, if a corrections officer is arrested he/she has five days to report the arrest to the department.
Morgan is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
