COLUMBIA (WACH) - Several credit unions from around the Midlands are joining together to offer free gas fill-ups Friday morning.
The first 100 drivers in line starting at 9:30 a.m. at the Pitt Stop / Shell gas station located at 3809 Sunset Blvd. in West Columbia will receive up to $20 in free gas at the specified pump, courtesy of the Credit Unions of South Carolina.
The gas giveaway will kick off the MADTAG campaign.
Credit Unions of South Carolina started the ongoing campaign to highlight the good deeds being done in our local community, and those who are making a difference.
â??MADTAG is all about finding ways to Make A Difference in the lives of others and our communityâ?? said Helen Powell, Vice President of Marketing for Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union in Columbia. â??But we donâ??t want it to stop there, just like a game of tag, we want people to pass on the good deed to someone elseâ?? said Powell.
â??Instead of just asking people what good deeds have been done for them, we wanted to lead by example by surprising drivers with a deal on gasâ?? said Anne Shivers, CEO of Carolina Collegiate Federal Credit Union. â??Hopefully the drivers who are the recipients of our good deed this morning will be energized to find a way to pass it onâ?? said Shivers.
The Credit Unions of South Carolina have launched a Facebook page for MADTAG, encouraging people to submit examples of good deeds that have been done for them, and who is responsible for them, which could lead to being chosen for a reward that will be given out monthly by the Credit Unions of South Carolina.
