COLUMBIA (WACH) " The South Carolina Ethics Commission says Lt. Gov. Ken Ard TMs latest quarterly report is late.
State law requires the filing of reports showing campaign contributions and expenditures. Ard's quarterly report was due Sunday and was not filed on time, according to the ethics commission.
You can search candidate reports online via the ethics commission website.Ard's latest ethics mishap comes after he already paid $48,400 in fines to settle charges the agency brought as it investigated his use of campaign account money. Ethics officials said he spent campaign cash on a vacation, clothes and other expenses, and then provided inaccurate information to investigators.
Ard had to reimburse the agency for its investigation and also repay his campaign. S.C. Attorney General Alan Wilson is now looking into Ard's actions to see if they may warrant further punishment under state law.Ard plans continue working as lieutenant governor, even as state Democrats have created a website calling on the Lt. Gov. to resign.
