SC GOP names new transition director

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina Republican Party has named a transition director.

New state GOP Chairman Chad Connelly said Wednesday that Matt Moore will run the party's transition to new leadership after Connelly was elected Saturday as the party chairman.

Moore previously was the state executive director for the conservative policy group Club for Growth and deputy political director for the Republican Governors Association.

State Democratic Party Chairman Dick Harpootlian was elected two weeks ago and is in the midst of a national search for an executive director.
