CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- The South Carolina gubernatorial race is passing through the Lowcountry with both major party candidates visiting the Charleston area.
Republican Gov. Nikki Haley is visiting a business in Ladson on Thursday afternoon. It's part of a series of appearances she's making across the state with South Carolina Chamber of Commerce officials and leaders to discuss business issues.
She has also scheduled appearances in Greenville, Myrtle Beach and Columbia.
Meanwhile, her Democratic opponent, state Sen. Vincent Sheheen, is holding a discussion with teachers and parents in Charleston to discuss improving education in South Carolina.
Sheheen's campaign says it's part of a three-week series of similar events being held around the state.
