COLUMBIA (WACH/ AP) -- Soldiers with the South Carolina Army National Guard spent the month of June in Colombia.

They helped fellow soldiers in the South American nation learn how to care for their military vehicles and equipment.

The visit was the second time the South Carolinians traveled to Colombia as part of a National Guard program that pairs U.S. units with friendly nations overseas.

Guard Maj. Dave King, who was in charge of the trip, says the 15 Army National Guard soldiers were able to use their years of experience to help the young Colombians establish solid work patterns for keeping their equipment repaired.

The soldiers are from the 742nd Support Maintenance Company based at the McCrady Training Center at Fort Jackson in Columbia.
