GAFFNEY, S.C. (AP) -- A 45-year-old Gaffney man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for strangling his mother, then stuffing her body in the rolling trash bin at their home.
Prosecutors said Brandon Knuckles pleaded guilty Friday to murder, financial transaction card fraud and other charges.
Authorities say 78-year-old Marjorie Knuckles was missing for several days in February before her body was found by a family member taking out the trash.
Prosecutors say Brandon Knuckles choked his mother and kicked her body a few times after an argument. They say he also used her credit card 10 times before he was arrested the day after her body was found.
Authorities say Marjorie Knuckles was also taking care of her 95-year-old homebound mother.
