SC man dies after being stunned after police chase

      A man has died after he was stunned with a Taster following a high speed chase

      ANDERSON, S.C. (AP) -- Anderson County authorities say a man has died after he was stunned with a Taser following a high-speed chase involving sheriff's deputies and the Highway Patrol.

      Sheriff John Skipper says deputies spotted a man driving erratically Sunday on state Highway 24 in Townville. Skipper says 31-year-old Brad Evans refused to stop when officers flashed their lights.

      The sheriff says the chase ended around12:15 p.m. state Highway 81 in Starr when Evans' car hit a fence. Skipper says Evans ran from the crash scene and officers used a Taser when he resisted arrest.

      Coroner Greg Shore says Evans was taken to AnMed Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead around 1 p.m. Shore said Evans had a history of heart problems.

      The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating.
