COLUMBIA, SC (WACH)- Are you need of some free medical care?

For the third year in a row medical caregivers will provide free medical services to citizens in our community who have no insurance and little medical care. It starts Friday, August 2nd at 6:00 a.m. and runs until 6:00 p.m. that day and starts again Saturday, August 3rd from 6:00 until noon. It's for adults only ages 17 and older.

SC Mission 2013 Midlands continues the tradition started in 2011 of a collaborative effort to meet the health needs of our communities most vulnerable citizens, said Barbara Willm, Vice President of Community Relations at Lexington Medical Center and SC Mission 2013 Midlands Steering Committee chair. The number of volunteers is amazing and their contributions are so impressive. All of our partners are honored to be a part of such an uplifting event for our community.

The South Carolina State Fairgrounds parking lot will open for patients at 5:00 a.m. each morning of the event. Patients should enter through Gate 6 on Assembly Street. No one will be permitted to park in the fairgrounds parking lot overnight. Patients should arrive at the State Fairgrounds prepared to be outside for part of the time they are there. The weather will be hot. Plan accordingly, bringing water and snacks.

Prescriptions will be provided when necessary, but no narcotics will be available on site.
