SC Senate holds moment of silence for missing lobbyist Tom Sponseller

COLUMBIA,SC (WACH)-The South Carolina Senate held a minute of silence for missing lobbyist Tom Sponseller, the President of the South Carolina Hospitality Association.

Police said a family member of Tom Sponseller reported him missing Saturday night after relatives and friends tried to contact him directly and he did not respond.

Loved ones said it is unusual for Sponseller to not respond to their calls. Sponseller was last seen at work in downtown Columbia around noon Saturday.

Coulumbia police Chief Randy Scott said they found Sponseller's car parked at his office building, and there was no sign of a struggle. Investigators are looking into possible surveillance videos at his office and outside where they found his car.

They are also in the process of checking credit card and cell phone activity.

Sponseller is a 61-year-old white male, approximately 6-feet-1 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds. He has gray/white hair, hazel eyes and typically wears glasses.
