SCDOT wants to hear from you on widening I-26
Chapin, S.C. (WACH) - South Carolina Department of Transportation wants to hear from the public regarding the interstate 26 widening project.
Tuesday, March 13 there will be a public hearing at Chapin High School about this proposed project from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
This project will improve various things along that interstate from exit 85 to exit 101.
These improvements include increasing capacity, improving safety, upgrading to current design standards, replace overpass bridges, and fix various interchanges and exit ramps.
The other purpose of this public hearing is to gather information from the public and interested organizations on the historic and cultural resources in the area where the widening would take place.
There will be large aerial displays of the entire project available for viewing.
During the hearing, SCDOT will speak on the purpose of the project, scheduling, and the potential natural and human impacts to the community.
The department will take public comments and questions during the hearing.
